Problem

To mark our presence as an early adult (Age: 16–26), we oppose almost all the rules and guidelines. Most of these oppositions are without much justification. We do so only because we can.

All this is done for the rush of adrenaline we get when doing something out of the ordinary.

For example — doing something to prove someone wrong

· Driving fast when the speed limit is 40km/hr

· Staying awake after the night curfew at home

· Smoking Cigarette / Drinking Alcohol just because you are advised against it

· Eating Junk Food just because your body can digest it at a young age

Solution

1. Find the real reason

Are you doing it because it is good or because someone told you not to do it?

2. Learn to Listen

No matter how useless you find someone’s advice, just listen to it. It will improve your relationship with the advisor and in some cases give you useful insights.

3. It’s cool to not be cool

Being a rebel sounds really cool, but we sometimes end up hurting ourselves just to oppose a rule. It’s okay to be not cool and listen to things that benefit you.

Conclusion

Rebel for things that you believe in not just because you can rebel.

If you have the right guides in your life, you might be better of without ever rebelling in your entire life. Your friends will call such a life boring but if you are smart enough you will look at the benefit of boring.
