Remember the number of times you revisited an Old Decision again and ended up with the same conclusion or the time when you made the exact same mistake twice. All this happened because you didn’t have a not-to-do list.
What is inside a Not-to-do list?
A not-to-do list is a list of things that you know you should not do. Here is how you can make yours
Taking a decision is time-consuming and takes a lot of effort. To prevent repetition, we must note down what we didn’t choose.
For example, I will not think about a Foreign MBA for the next 5 years because it needs work experience.
If you tried to do something and you failed. Repeating the exact same steps is stupidity. You must change something. Note down the cause of failure to not repeat it.
For example, I will not be overconfident before the exam because I failed last time.
We are all bound by the limitations of our abilities, our surroundings, and the opinion of other people. Acknowledging them reduces our grief.
For example, I will not leave my job for the next 2 years because my family needs money.
We all have our own moral values that we won’t cross no matter what. These values are our guiding light to decide what we will not do.
For example, I will not eat beef
Some might feel if I say not to think about something you will think about the same. The fact is you will think about the decision you took and the Not-to-do list will remind you to stick to your decision. For example — If your not-to-do list has I will not eat beef and someone offers you beef and they try to convince you. You will remember the reason you put this in your Not do list and be firm in your choice.
This activity of Not To do List will eliminate a lot of guilty pleasures and repeated mistakes from your life. This will save a lot of your effort and investments ( Emotional as well as financial )
